Wow

Who knew this bilingualism thing could actually be useful. Wei Chuen introduced me to Omegle.com, and I connected with this dude in China. We ended up speaking different languages to each other, and it was possibly one of the most bizarre and bilingual conversations I've ever been in. It wasn't that boring either.

Great fun. It's also freaking long, so to read the whole thing, there should be a read more button somewhere.

Stranger: hi
Stranger: from
You: yo
You: Singapore.
You: strangest of all the Asian countries
Stranger: maybe?
You: and you?

You: go ahead and speak in chinese. I'll try my best.
Stranger: 测控技术与仪器 i don't sure about how to speak it in english
Stranger:
Stranger:
You: ohh
You: engineering?
Stranger:
You: you work with machines then
Stranger:
You: so where're you aiming to work after college?
Stranger:
Stranger:
You: I'm not sure if I'm reading correctly. Masters degree?
You: you're aiming for a masters degree
Stranger: 是的
You: ahh
Stranger:
You: ah, yeah
You: we've got loads
You: haha, they all come to study here
You: they also do better than me half the time
Stranger:
Stranger:
You: still studying
You: High school
You: we've got our fair share of scholars here
Stranger:
You: i hear most of them leave after they've finished their studies though. Not sure where.
You: oh?
You: you know what school he's in?
You: or is he in college.
Stranger:
You: yeah, i suppose
You: NUS is pretty good
You: but I don't intend on going there
Stranger: 为什么
You: especially since we're a mainly chinese community, it's more attractive for chinese scholars
You: well the course I'm interested in isn't very reknowned in NUS
You: 8 years? for college?
You: i don't think so
Stranger:
You: oh, after studying
You: I'm not sure about that
Stranger: 是
You: usually if they're on scholarship they need to work for the company that offered it to them
You: depending on scholarship the duration is different
You: for me I'm not really sure where I'd go. The US, maybe.
Stranger:
You: well the US is very powerful
You: a lot of business to be done there
You: I want to go because I want a change of environment, mostly
You: and the schools there have better courses for me
Stranger:
Stranger:
Stranger:
You: where do you want to go?
Stranger:
Stranger:
You: I'm going to try for an arts course. Interactive entertainment, like video games.
Stranger:
You: haha, definitely
You: I guess I don't have much choice, either
You: I don't have interest in anything else, and my math results aren't good enough for engineering
You: true.
Stranger:
Stranger:
You: well I love art and video games, so i think it won't be so bad
Stranger:
Stranger:
You: haha, very deep
You: you're right, i guess
You: but even talent needs to be developed
You: if there's talent but no interest, there's no point
Stranger:
Stranger:
You: I'll keep that in mind then
You: anyway, i have to go. It's been fun, haha
You: this bilingual thing isn't so bad
Stranger:
You: good night
Stranger: 晚安
